Michael’s journey in medicine began at Hunter College, where he studied Pre-Medicine from 1980 to 1982. He then advanced his education at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College-CUNY, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant studies in 1984.
Certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Michael commenced his career at Montefiore, where he worked from August 1984 to August 1986, providing primary care and managing chronic medical conditions within the prison health system. This role allowed him to address significant public health issues and trauma cases, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors. He then transitioned to Beth Israel’s Emergency Department from 1986 to 1998, where he honed his skills in managing acute and chronic illnesses, performing emergency procedures, and delivering critical care to patients in high-stress situations.
In search of new challenges, Michael moved to St. Luke’s, now Mount Sinai Morningside, where he has excelled in interventional radiology for the past 16 years. His dedication to patient care has earned him several accolades, including a commendation from Continuum Healthcare Partners for his exceptional work during the World Trade Center bombing and recognition as an Employee “Honor Roll” member in January 1987. In October 2013, he received a commendation from the Emergency Medical Reserve Corps for his service at the Baruch University evacuation center during Tropical Storm Sandy.
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, which enhances his ability to connect with a diverse patient population.
