Scholar holds certification as a Mental Health Counselor Recreational Therapist. A recreational therapist is a professional who works with sick or disabled individuals to accomplish improvements in physical and mental health through recreation. Though recreational therapists use games, crafts and other fun activities in their approaches to patients, recreational therapy is a combination of both work and play. Every activity has a purpose, ranging from building social skills with games that require teamwork to expressing emotions and even strengthening motor skills.

Scholar attributes her professional success towards her counseling in college, when she was originally pursuing an engineering degree. Without God and her family, she doesn't know where she'd be. Her late husband was a huge support and help in getting her to where she is with her practice. Her children continue to motivate her to push harder.
