Born and raised in Henderson, Dr. Duran knew from an early age that he not only wanted to raise a family in rural East Texas, but he also wanted to practice in the field of medicine with an emphasis on trauma. However, the day he stepped through the doors of North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian, Louisiana, his mindset changed, he knew it was his calling to practice rural family medicine. “I knew this was what the Lord had planned for me to do. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this was how the art and science of medicine should be practiced. I wanted to be trained by the best to perform family medicine, the traditional way.”

As a board-certified physician, he is in practice with UT Health East Texas in Carthage, Texas. He also serves as Vice Chief of Staff on the Medical Executive Committee, and as Physician Liaison on the UT Health East Texas Board of Directors.

Dr. Duran also volunteers his time and services as a team physician for the Carthage Athletic Program whose football team just added their 7th State Football Championship in 2019. Dr. Duran also helps coach Dixie League Baseball for his twin boys during the spring and summer months.

Dr. Duran is the owner and medical physician for  P&C Cosmetic Medicine in Carthage which provides Weight Loss, Botox Injections, Juvederm Facial Fillers and most recently has added Bioidentical Hormone Replacement for both men and women via EvexiPEL hormone pelleting to help individuals look and feel their best every day.

UT Health East Texas provides care to thousands of patients each year through its extensive regional network of hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, freestanding emergency centers, urgent care facilities, and other locations. With the support of Ardent Health Services and The University of Texas System, UT Health East Texas is uniquely positioned to provide patients with access to cutting edge research and clinical therapies while training and educating the next generation of physicians and other health professionals. Its mission is to bring East Texas the world-class care it deserves.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Saint Martin. During his rural family medicine residency at North Caddo, he was trained by the well-known Dr. John Haynes, a founding member of the American Board of Family Medicine. “I was trained to treat pretty much anything and everything, and to make sure that people have access to the best care possible without having to travel out of town.”

A member of the Texas Medical Association, he is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
