Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Louis D. Gilles, who serves patients in Encinitas, Georgia.

Recognized as a caring and compassionate podiatrist, Dr. Gilles works with patients in private practice alongside his friend and mentor, Dr. Keenan Carriero, after completing his training program and being trained to his exacting standards.

Born in the Chicagoland area, he initially began his professional career as an engineer and product developer, spending more than 20 years working in the telecommunications and technology sectors, where he holds four patents. A job opportunity to help build the Sprint PCS network brought him to California in the early 1990’s.

Because of a real interest in helping others, Dr. Gilles decided to return to medical school in 2010. He chose podiatry as his field of practice because of the impact that foot and ankle care has on the quality of life, and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in 2015. After graduation, he and Dr. Carriero decided to begin a residency program, allowing him to receive his training from the very best sports medicine and general podiatrists in the area.

Passionate about teaching, he currently serves as the Director of Learning Strategies at the California School of Podiatric Medicine, teaching classes on the integration of learning into board exam, clerkship and residency preparation.

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.

In his free time, Dr. Gilles enjoys his life with his beautiful wife, three kids, working out, and the San Diego sunshine.
