Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Todd James, who serves patients in Grand Junction, Colorado.

A highly trained cardiologist, Dr. James is affiliated with Grand Valley Cardiology at Community Hospital. He performs interventional cardiac procedures including coronary angioplasty and PCI (stents), right and left heart catheter, peripheral angiograms and interventions, and pacemaker and ILR (Loop Recorder) implantation. He also practices preventative medicine, helping patients maintain a heart-healthy life, and has an affinity for diet and nutrition-based health.

Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, is a full-service, acute care hospital licensed for 60 beds. As part of the Colorado West Healthcare System, it is a Level III Trauma Center that offers full outpatient diagnostic services and inpatient care for the Western Slope region of Colorado and eastern Utah. It brings together expert staff and world-class technology in a healing, family-centered environment. 

Graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado, Dr. James earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Subsequently, he completed a fellowship with the Heart & Vascular Institute at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, and returned to Chicago to complete a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Riverside Medical Center, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Passionate about his profession, he is board-certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults (internists).

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. James is a proud member of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American Osteopathic Association.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

On a more personal note, Dr. James lives in Grand Valley with his wife and dog, Luna. He enjoys all things outdoors including hiking, biking, golfing, skiing and most recently, river running on paddleboards and rafts.
