Get to know Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Belinda Bagby,

who serves patients in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Belinda is an experienced, board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with PrairieStar Health Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She provides mental health assessments and medication management for men, women, and children who are dealing with a variety of mental health issues. She will also refer to a therapist or other specialist if indicated.

Some of the conditions that she treats include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, substance use, schizophrenia, PTSD, personality disorders, and behavior disorders in children.

In regards to her educational background, Belinda graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in Kansas City in 2013. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Wichita State University in 2015.

A highly motivated and dedicated healthcare professional, Belinda is certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. She also holds a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Waiver through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration.

Psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing is the appointed position of a nurse who specializes in mental health and cares for people of all ages experiencing mental illnesses or distress. In the United States, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. PMHNPs diagnose, conduct therapy, and prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. They are licensed to provide emergency psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of their patients, treatment plans, and patient care. They may also serve as consultants or as educators for families and staff.
