Get to know Family Physician Dr. Nikolaos Kanellopoulos, who serves patients in Merritt Island, Florida.

A board-certified family physician, Dr. Kanellopoulos is the Founder of Island Family Health in Merritt Island, Florida, which he established in 2018. As such, he specializes in primary care for families, and aesthetic services such as body contouring.

Bringing several years of experience to Island Family Health, Dr. Kanellopoulos takes pride in offering patients the latest treatments while providing an unmatched level of care. His practice offers traditional primary care services along with medical weight loss and aesthetics in a professional and comfortable environment.

Born and raised in Greece, Dr. Kanellopoulous received his medical degree from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2003. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in family medicine at Swedish Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 2012.

That same year, he attained board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Advancing his interests in the field of family medicine, Dr. Kanellopoulos is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

With specialized knowledge in his field, Dr. Kanellopoulos has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2016, 2015) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2015).

Outside of practicing medicine, he enjoys swimming, hiking with family, running triathlons, and playing tennis. His favorite place to vacation is in Greece, and he is fluent in both English and Greek.
