Get to know Pediatric Resident Dr. Kellen O’Neill Walsh, who practices in Kansas City, Missouri.

A 2018 graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Walsh is a pediatric resident at Children’s Mercy Hospital. She is currently in her third year of residency (PGY3).

Children’s Mercy Hospital is a 367-bed comprehensive pediatric medical center in Kansas City, Missouri that integrates clinical care, research, and medical education to provide care for patients ages birth to 21. The hospital’s primary service area covers a 150-county area in Missouri and Kansas. It is recognized as one of America’s best children’s hospitals by the U.S. News and World Report, ranking in all 10 pediatric specialties.

Turning her passion into a profession, Dr. Walsh attributes her success to her faith, having a great mentor during her undergraduate studies, as well as receiving support from her advisor and her family/friends. 

With a focus on the health care of children, she is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The mission of the AAP is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social  health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all their developmental stages, as they grow and mature. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Walsh is happily married to Brian Walsh.
