Dr. Lotia is a fellowship-trained movement disorder neurologist with an impressive educational and training background. He is the Medical Director for Movement disorders at the AdventHealth Neurosciences Institute, helping patients with Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, Tourette syndrome, and other movement disorders.

A trusted name in neuroscience, the AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute has partnered with Orlando Neurosurgery, a team that has delivered leading-edge treatments and world-class brain and spine expertise to the Central Florida community for over 20 years. Together, they are scaling an advanced and personalized neurosurgical program with the area’s top experts in the field of neuroscience and neurosurgery.

Educated in India, Dr. Lotia earned his medical degree and completed an internship at Terna Medical College & Hospital. He then relocated to the United States, performing internships at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky. 

Furthering his training, he was a clinical stroke fellow at the National Institutes of Health Stroke Team at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and a resident in neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also served as a chief resident.

After completing a two-year movement disorders fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine under the guidance of Dr. Joseph Jankovic, where he also served as a chief fellow, Dr. Lotia joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an Assistant Professor. At UAMS, he served as the neurology residency program director and worked in multiple leadership roles.

Board-certified in neurology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

The founding member of the Functional Neurological Disorder Society, Dr. Lotia is also an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurologists are specialists who treat diseases of the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. Neurological conditions include epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), and Parkinson’s disease.
