How can I get over my husband's infedility?
If you attend a church, call the pastor/priest and ask if he can help both you and your husband in this difficult time. You cannot "forget", but you can "forgive". However, you need support in learning how to go forward in making your marriage stronger after this "event" which is how someone in the "counseling profession" can help. If you do not attend a church, then call some counseling agencies and ask if they have someone who can help both you and your husband with this particular situation in your marriage life. READ MORE
My brother is going through a divorce and is extremely stressed. Will counselling help?
Yes, Counseling would help - with either a counselor who specializes in divorce counseling and/or if your brother attends a particular church - a pastor may also be helpful in supporting and assisting with the help of GOD to bring peace and strength to him during this most difficult time. Also, don't hesitate to let your brother know that you are there to let him know that you love him and support him - always...keep him close. READ MORE
My younger son has ADHD. Will my elder son need counseling about his condition?
What is the age of your elder son? Does he understand what ADHD means? Meeting with a Counselor - to ask questions, to obtain more information of how his brother's condition may affect him - what he can expect from his younger brother. The family may also need to work with a Counselor to help with the "difficulties" that will arise w/a child in the family who has ADHD. Plans on how to handle conflict, make time for family "togetherness" and diverting the demands of parental attention by the younger son in ways that do not slight the elder son. There will be a lot to experience by EVERYONE in the family - find ways to reduce stress, tension and focus on teaching the younger son what to do, rather than reacting on what not to do. Mostly, make sure both sons know that ADHD is no one's fault and everyone can learn ways to improve the problems it causes. READ MORE
My daughter has tried to commit suicide twice. Can a counselor help us?
Absolutely! Your daughter needs to find someone "safe" to talk to and an adult that she can depend on to listen to her - without being judgemental - that would be a counselor. Find one who works with suicidal young as well and do this as soon as possible. Also don't question her about the sessions, but driving her to and from is a good idea so that you can be available if necessary for counselor consultation. This would be a "start". READ MORE
How can I handle my work stress better?
When you feel stressed, you can start a relaxing process that will calm the body and the mind and enable you to think better and act more "in-control." Here's the process: (Try these steps first when sitting - then when you have mastered them, you can do them either sitting or standing.) 1) put your hand on your stomach 2) and breathe in with your mouth closed 3) breathe through your nose 4) your stomach should move out as much as possible 5) then breathe out through your mouth 6) your stomach should move in as tightly as possible Continue these steps until you feel relaxed and able to get back to whatever you were doing. You will feel more relaxed and refreshed. The stress will be gone as your focus has been on the physical movements and the increase of oxygen in your system. READ MORE
