From Personal Inspiration to Medical Expertise: Dr. Pandya’s Journey to Infectious Disease Excellence
Tampa, Florida – Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay is proud to announce the continued contributions of Shuchi S. Pandya, MD, an esteemed infectious disease specialist who joined the practice in 2017. With a robust background and extensive expertise in managing infections among immunocompromised patients and critically ill individuals, Dr. Pandya has become an integral part of the team dedicated to providing comprehensive care in infectious diseases.
In her role at Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay, Dr. Pandya focuses on various interests, including H.I.V. management, hepatitis C, travel medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship. The practice is renowned for its commitment to excellence, providing specialized care for infections ranging from common ailments to rare tropical diseases.
Dr. Pandya’s journey into medicine began in a deeply supportive family in India, where a personal experience profoundly shaped her career path. When her brother suffered a severe motorcycle accident, the intricate process of his recovery, especially the intricate reconstruction of his jaw, ignited her passion for medicine—this pivotal moment motivated Dr. Pandya to pursue her dream of becoming a physician, leading her to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology from the University of Toronto.
Her medical education continued at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, where she graduated with Highest Honors and earned a place on the Dean’s Honor Roll. Dr. Pandya completed her residency in internal medicine at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Seton Hall University in New Jersey, where she further honed her skills through various community outreach initiatives and educational roles, including physician in the Police Athletic League Physical Program, a teacher to physician assistants in the Seton Hall Physician Assistant Program; a physical exam conductor at the Peterstown Community Center Health Fair for Seniors; and involvement with the Residents as Teachers and Educators (RATE) Program for high school students in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Relocating to Florida, Dr. Pandya completed her fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, serving as Chief Infectious Disease Fellow and receiving the prestigious Jeffrey P Nadler Excellence in Research Award for 2016-2017. Her commitment to the field is further demonstrated by her board certifications in internal medicine and infectious disease and her membership in prominent medical organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pandya actively participates in charitable endeavors. She has served as an attending physician with Tampa Bay Street Medicine and B.R.I.D.G.E. Healthcare Clinic, a free clinic affiliated with the University of South Florida. Her dedication to giving back to the community matches her academic contributions as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
Dr. Pandya also holds significant leadership roles, including Chair of the Infection Control Committee, Medical Director of the Infection Control Program, and Chief of the Department of Medicine at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida. Her multilingual capabilities in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, and medical Spanish enable her to connect with a diverse patient population and ensure that quality care is accessible to all.
Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay remains committed to providing the highest quality care under the guidance of dedicated specialists like Dr. Shuchi S. Pandya. Together, they continue to advance the standards of infectious disease management in the Tampa Bay area.
