Dr. Ahmed Rashed is the Medical Director of the Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department, a brand-new, state-of-the-art, free-standing Emergency Department located in the heart of Southern Brooklyn. He has been an Emergency Medicine Attending at Maimonides for 15 years, and spear-headed a number of ED initiatives, including the Maimonides ED transition to becoming a Level I Adult/Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, as well as playing an instrumental role in forging the relationship between Maimonides and the One Brooklyn Health System. In his role as as Medical Director  of the Maimonides Bay Ridge ED, he strives to bring the Maimonides level of clinical excellence to the communities of Southern Brooklyn that have limited access to emergency care. He lives in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and is proud to serve the community in the neighborhood he calls home.

The Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Ahmed Rashed as its Medical Director. This brand-new, state-of-the-art free-standing Emergency Department is dedicated to providing premier emergency care to the residents of Southern Brooklyn, a community that has historically faced challenges in accessing immediate medical attention.

An esteemed Emergency Medicine Attending at Maimonides for the past 15 years, he played a pivotal role in transitioning the Maimonides Emergency Department into a Level I Adult/Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, enhancing the quality of care available to patients. Additionally, he has been instrumental in establishing a collaborative relationship between Maimonides and the One Brooklyn Health System, which aims to improve healthcare access and outcomes across the borough.

In his new role as Medical Director of the Maimonides Bay Ridge ED, Dr. Rashed is committed to extending the high standards of clinical excellence that Maimonides is known for to the Bay Ridge community. “I am honored to lead the Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department and to serve the community I call home,” said Dr. Rashed. “Our goal is to ensure that every resident has access to high-quality emergency care, right when they need it most.”

Throughout his academic career, he completed his medical education at New Jersey Medical School and his residency at Maimonides Medical Center, where he developed a deep understanding of emergency medicine. His professional interests include trauma care, administration, and the development of free-standing emergency departments, making him uniquely qualified to lead this vital service.

In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Rashed is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American Association for Physician Leadership. His dedication to continuous learning and improvement reflects his commitment to providing the best possible care to patients.

Outside of his professional endeavors, he is a fitness and weightlifting enthusiast, with a background as a former professional bodybuilder. When he’s not at work or in the gym, he enjoys indulging in his favorite pizza and spending quality time with his family.
