Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Sheeva Rajaei, who serves patients in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Rajaei, a determined and compassionate cardiologist, currently serves as the CCU Director at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Her expertise lies in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of heart, blood vessel, and cardiovascular system diseases, and she is committed to investing in the well-being of her patients.

In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Rajaei holds an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor position at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is actively engaged in academia, contributing to the education and training of future medical professionals.

Scholastically, Dr. Rajaei graduated with her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and her Medical Degree from the Penn State College of Medicine in 2011. 

Following this, she completed her residency in internal medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, receiving the Robert S. Pinals MD Humanism & Professionalism Award in 2014. Continuing her training, she pursued a cardiology fellowship at Stanford University, successfully completing it in 2017.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Rajaei holds the esteemed title of Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Staying current with advancements in her field and contributing to the medical community, Dr. Rajaei is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Medical Association.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Fluent in English and Persian, Dr. Rajaei attributes her success to her passion for assisting critically ill patients, enabling them to make prompt and informed decisions that positively influence their lives for optimal outcomes.
