Throughout his academic career, Dr. Berlioz received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Following this, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Florida (ranked #1 in the state). He then completed a fellowship in medical and interventional pain management at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, continuing his education in an effort to relieve pain.
Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). He is also, at this time, eligible for his second certification by the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologists have a vast amount of responsibilities that include vigilant monitoring of the patient’s vital signs during surgery, managing acute pain, maintaining safety, and most importantly, acting as the patient’s advocate in the operating room.
