Dr. Legg is a board-certified anesthesiologist & fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician specializing in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. He is the Founder of Northwest Pain Specialists in Spokane Valley, Washington. His philosophy is to approach pain through a combination of rehabilitation exercises, medications, procedural interventions, and, when necessary, surgical interventions with the goal to optimize pain relief and functionality.
The doctor has a wide variety of experience in treating painful conditions of the spine, musculoskeletal conditions of the upper and lower extremities, headaches, cancer pain, and internal organ pain. In his current capacity, he can also be found on staff at M2 Anesthesia in Lake Tapps, Washington. His skill set includes fluoroscopically-guided spine injections and radiofrequency ablations, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections, and personally performing surgeries to implant devices for neuromodulation.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Legg received a bachelor’s degree in Biology followed by a master’s degree in Nutritional Science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and remained there to complete a residency in anesthesiology. He then completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in pain management at the University of Toledo.
For the purpose of staying up to date in his field, he remains a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, the Spine Intervention Society, and the Society for Practice of Pain Management.
In addition, he is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology, whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
Interventional pain management or interventional pain medicine is a medical subspecialty which treats pain with invasive interventions such as facet joint injections, nerve blocks (interrupting the flow of pain signals along specific nervous system pathways), neuroaugmentation (including spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation), vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, nucleoplasty, endoscopic discectomy and implantable drug delivery system. As an interventional pain management physician, Dr. Legg focuses on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain.
