Get to know Oculoplastic Surgeon Dr. Jennifer Murdock, who serves patients in Miami, Florida.

Named one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston in 2022, Dr. Murdock is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a specialization in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She practices in several practices in north Miami.

Her areas of clinical interest include aesthetic procedures around the eyes and face, blepharoplasty, cosmetic injections, eyelid and orbital reconstruction, pediatric ophthalmic plastic surgery, and complicated orbital inflammatory disorders, including thyroid eye disease.

A native Houstonian, Dr. Murdock has always had an interest in both the arts and science and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Marine Science at the University of Miami while minoring in Art History after studying in Paris. She also learned the intricacies of conducting clinic research, studying novel laser, injectable, and surgical techniques within UM’s Department of Cosmetic Medicine.

While completing her medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Murdock participated in the Department of Community Service (DOCS), which provided free medical screening to many underprivileged communities in South Florida. She also worked with a professional director and film crew to create a documentary series about the culture, medical needs, and health care gaps within these diverse communities.

Once she returned to Houston, Dr. Murdock completed a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she delved further into education by teaching medical trainees in both didactic and hands-on settings. She was then selectively chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants to join the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University, where she performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, eyelids, and orbit in both adults and children alike.

Leading the field of oculoplastics, Dr. Murdock is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Murdock is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Participating in an FDA multi-center study, Dr. Murdock has investigated a new prescription medication for thyroid eye disease, called TEPEZZA. She has also published in medical journals and textbooks in various fields in topics that include laser resurfacing, ophthalmic side effects of cosmetic resurfacing devices, pediatric ptosis, cervical rhytidectomy, and various orbital diseases.

Continuing her passion for the arts, Dr. Murdock is an avid supporter of Miami’s art culture, particularly the symphony, theater, and ballet performances. She also serves as a board member for the 40 Under 40 committee of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and has repeatedly been invited to present at the renowned ASOPRS international meetings.
