Her research focuses on blood-based biomarkers and precision medicine clinical trials specifically for pancreatic cancer. Notably, she has spearheaded several investigator-initiated clinical trials that have pioneered the use of molecular profiling to guide chemotherapeutic selection in the neoadjuvant setting.
After completing medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor in 2001, Dr. Tsai pursued a residency in general surgery at Michigan Medicine. Building on this foundation, she advanced to a prestigious fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Tsai further refined her expertise with a graduate program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and currently serves as a Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
An accomplished author, Dr. Tsai has contributed over 130 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 17 book chapters to the field. She serves on the editorial board for the Journal of GI Surgery and Surgery and acts as an ad-hoc reviewer for respected publications such as BMC Cancer, JAMA Surgery, and Clinical Cancer Research.
