Sandra L. DeGroat, MA, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, CCTP, CAIMHP, is a multifaceted professional excelling in the fields of psychiatric-mental health, forensic psychology, and behavioral sciences. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as the owner of SDG Behavioral Consulting, a firm offering forensic psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral science services nationwide – via telephone, virtual contact or on-site. 

As a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Sandra is dedicated to providing expert analysis on the psychology of individuals, specializing in mental health and psychopathy. Her practice extends to a wide range of diagnostic areas, including psychopathy, post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, suicidal behavior, issues related to childhood abuse, dometic violence and related experiences, and more. Her comprehensive understanding of psychiatric treatments and therapies allows her to offer invaluable insights to clients seeking guidance in managing mental health conditions.

In her capacity as a forensic psychology and psychiatric behavioral expert, Sandra offers services in victimology, threat/risk assessments, and evaluations. She collaborates with various stakeholders such as schools, law enforcement agencies, criminal and family courts, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and victims of crime to provide comprehensive support and expert testimony where needed.

After working as a clinician in the field of psychiatry for over three decades, Sandra is an expert in recognizing the behaviors associated with psychiatric conditions. She has developed an expertise in the identification and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders, as well as the underlying experiences that form the psychopathology of the personality.

Moreover, Sandra has cultivated an expertise regarding the human condition and how experiences shape an individual’s relationship with the world around them. She has an adept understanding of how this relates to the psychology of human behavior and its relationship within the field of forensic psychology.

With proficiency as an educator, Sandra has taught, as an adjunct professor, at Monmouth University where she was given an opportunity to impart her knowledge to students taking classes in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Psychopathology as well as Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing: Practice with Children and Adolescents. 

Currently pursuing her PhD in Forensic Psychology with a specialization in Victimology, Sandra continues to expand her expertise and contribute to the fields of forensic psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral sciences. Her journey is characterized by a rare fusion of clinical insights, scholarly brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to unraveling the complexities of human behavior, setting her apart as a leading expert.
