Championing Student Success in Riverside’s Alvord Unified School District

Riverside, California—Mary Khalil, M.Ed., Ed.S., is making waves as a dedicated school psychologist at Alvord Unified School District. Her passion lies in identifying and supporting students with exceptional needs. With a wealth of experience and a robust educational background, Mary is committed to ensuring every child receives the support and placement required to thrive academically and emotionally.

Mary began her academic journey at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 2009. She obtained her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (K-8th Grade) 2011 from the same institution. Pursuing her passion for educational psychology, Mary graduated with a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2013. She completed her Educational Specialist in School Psychology Certification in 2014 to further specialize in her field.

Mary’s professional career began as a Behavioral Therapist at Autism Response Team, Inc., where she worked tirelessly from March 2010 to August 2011. This formative role allowed her to assist children diagnosed with autism and other conditions, enhancing their social skills, adaptive behaviors, and emotional regulation within the community. Building on this foundation, she served as a School Psychologist Intern at Chaffey Joint Union School District from August 2013 to May 2014, where her responsibilities included assessing and placing students in appropriate academic settings and providing counseling support for those facing social and emotional challenges.

After her internship, Mary worked as a School Psychologist at Garden Grove Unified School District (August 2014 to August 2016)  and Chino Unified School District (August 2016 to January 2019), where she honed her skills in creating inclusive educational environments for diverse learners. Since January 2019, she has been an integral part of Alvord Unified School District, whose focus remains on fostering student success through tailored support and innovative strategies.

An active member of the National Association of School Psychologists, Mary reinforces her commitment to professional development and advocacy for student mental health. Her ability to communicate fluently in both English and Arabic allows her to connect with a diverse student population, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder access to necessary support.

In her role, Mary Khalil exemplifies a dedication to educational equity and student well-being, making her a vital asset to the Alvord Unified School District and the Riverside community.
