In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Hart holds an academic position as an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Michigan. Prior to this, he served as the Director of the GI Motility Lab at the University of Toledo.

Since joining the University of Michigan, his focus has been on disorders of the brain gut interaction and will hopefully work to evaluate the role of microbiome and metabolome on symptoms and management of these disorders.

In affiliation with several professional organizations, Dr. Hart is an active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
