Get to know Physician Assistant Elisabeth Jackson Gaines, who serves patients in Douglasville, Georgia.

Elisabeth is a certified physician assistant specializing in preventing and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of care under the supervision of a physician. She is affiliated with Georgia Cancer Specialists – Douglasville in Georgia.

Georgia Cancer Specialists and Northside Hospital Cancer Institute recognize that patients’ journeys with cancer often begin before they set foot in their offices, and can extend long after their treatment is complete. Back in 1999, Elisabeth graduated with her medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama, giving her over two decades of experience.

To date, she remains affiliated with several hospitals in the Georgia area, including Wellstar Hospitals in Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Counties; as well as with Northside Hospital in Atlanta. 

A physician assistant is a health care practitioner who practices medicine in collaboration with physicians. They examine patients, prescribe medicine, and order diagnostic tests. In most cases, they work under the supervision of physicians or surgeons, but they can work more independently in some states, rural areas, and inner-city areas, consulting with physicians only when they need help with cases.
