Dr. Sally Smalley is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor, also known as an otolaryngologist, practicing in Calhoun, GA. Dr. Smalley is a general ENT surgeon who can treat problems in the ears, nose, and throat. Can I use estrogen drops or cream in my nose?
Empty nose syndrome is a condition that occurs after complete excision of the turbinates, typically the inferior turbinates. I've never heard of empty nose syndrome being diagnosed after use of nasal sprays. I'm also not familiar with using estrogen drops in the nose. If you were having issues with the dry nose, decreased mucus and crusting, using an emollient such as aquaphor in your saline spray could be helpful . You also may have another condition that may warrant biopsy such as Sjograns syndrome or granulomatous disease. It might be worth a second opinion. I would be hesitant to try estrogen drops in the nose. READ MORE

You probably had a type of virus, and viruses can affect nerves similar to how Bells palsy occurs. Covid is not the only virus that exists. It's also likely that you have residual nasal polyps in the nose, which can decrease nasal airflow, and decrease sense of smell accordingly. I would get checked out by an ENT, but most commonly your symptoms are residual from a type of upper respiratory virus. READ MORE

Why do you think the primary function of the ear is balance vs hearing? I disagree with that completely. The ear has both functions. They are associated but not necessarily dependent on each other. Question your diagnosis. The likelihood of meneires is disease in a 24-year-old is pretty low. You need to have asymmetrical sentinel hearing loss, tinnitus, oral fullness, and episodes of vertigo lasting for hours at a time to really be diagnosed with menieres. READ MORE

Hard to see, your pictures. Kind of fuzzy. But in that area likely a small papilloma on the soft palate. Any ENT can do a quick oral biopsy for you and send it for pathology READ MORE
