  • Can a concussion exacerbate tinnitus

Tinnitus happens because of hearing loss. Concussions can cause hearing loss in various ways, so yes, it can increase tinnitus. An audiogram is best to evaluate your hearing loss. READ MORE

  • I lose my voice?

The voice is a muscle just like anything else. It will get tiring and fatiguing. An Ent can evaluate the voice with a flexible laryngoscopy in the clinic, to ensure there is nothing unusual present. READ MORE

  • Can my muffled hearing and ear pain be a ruptured ear drum?

It could be, but that is very unlikely just because of ear plugs. Try popping your ears, clearing the ear pressure from the middle ear as you do in a plane. Hold your nose and pop your ears, then swallow a couple of times to equalize the ear pressure. READ MORE

  • Enlarged lymph nodes for 9 weeks

It could be simple inflammation. Just because you have enlarged lymph nodes that don't completely go away, does not mean there is something wrong. You can do a biopsy of the LN to test for lymphoma which is likely what the ENT will offer you. But if it's negative then the lymph nodes may just be general inflammation. There are other rare conditions that can be tested for, but they would also show up as abnormal tissue in the biopsy. READ MORE

  • Metal Taste that Can be Cleared By Crying

Thats a tough one. A neurologist would probably be the best consult READ MORE

  • Something caught in my throat?

Not sure, but a simple ENT exam could look at the ear and the throat. You may be experiencing a sensation of referred pain or fullness due to swollen tissue in the nasopharynx or lymph nodes in the neck. Again, a simple ENT exam would be the best next step. READ MORE

  • LPR , Too much Antibiotics?

Get tested for Hpylori, which is an infection in the stomach leading to increased GERD. It would be best to eat yogurt and re-establish gut flora. May dose of PPI, 80 mg a day, for 30 days can be helpful, allowing the throat to heal. I would get tested for Hpylori with a stool antigen test. READ MORE

  • What is this in my ear

Your ear canal looks very irritated, ad if you have been sticking q tips in the canal. the ear drum looks health except for the bright white spot on it on the left side of the photo. this is likely a common appearance of scarring on the ear drum, but could be something more unusual. READ MORE

  • Endocrinology Help Regarding Steroids

You should go see an ENT if you are worried, but at this point there is nothing to do but wait. Do not try to modify your hormones unless directed by a physician. The voice pitch is changed by the length of the vocal cord. An ENT doctor would not offer you any kind of intervention regardless. If it really bothers you and you want to learn to regulate the pitch of your voice better, go see a speech language pathologist. READ MORE

  • How many days is the treatment for a sore throat?

bacterial tonsillitis should be treated with at least 10 days of antibiotics, plus supportive care like tylenol, motrin, hot salt water gargles. Viral tonsillitis should be treated with supportive care only. Both conditions may take a week or two to resolve. READ MORE

  • Ear Plugged with Pain

Use afrin nasal spray 2-3x a day for 3 days and try to pop your ears by holding your nose and 'blowing' like you are clearing your ear pressure on a plane. It will hurt the first time the eustachian tube opens, since you have so much pressure on the ear. But it will feel much better after you achieve this. READ MORE

  • Can hearing damage be reversed?

depends on what type of hearing loss she has. Conductive hearing can sometimes be corrected or improved. Sensorineural hearing loss is typically permanent. READ MORE

  • Ear and throat pain

A middle ear infection can leave residual fluid in the middle ear for up to 30 days. this will impact your conductive hearing. I would suggest getting an audiogram to evaluate your hearing and make sure you do not have any sensorineural hearing loss as a result of your infection. this would be needed to be treated with oral steroids as soon as possible if your do have SNHL present. READ MORE

  • Should I see a doctor

If you have a fever, and white patches on your tonsils, I would go see a doctor to be evaluated for strep. If your tonsils are big and red without patches of white, stay home, take anti-inflammatories and stay hydrated. READ MORE

  • Can a child's sore throat go away on its own?

yes. Have her gargle with hot salt water. treat her with motrin and tylenol. READ MORE

  • Sinusitis

Try using nasal steroid spray daily for a minimum of 2 weeks. Pay attention to when the symptoms occur. In the morning, at night after laying down. before or after you eat, if you are outside or inside... these features will help your doctor figure out what they may be able to help you with. READ MORE

  • hearing issues

As you bend over, blood rushes into the venous system in the head, making the mucous membranes in the upper respiratory system swell, to include the internal structures and lining of the nose. Try popping your ears a few times, like you are on a plane. Likely you are experiencing a bit of temporary eustachian tube dysfunction. If the sensation does not clear up, have an audiogram (formal hearing test done) in order to rule out any sudden sensorineural hearing loss. READ MORE

  • Strep Throat and Kissing

You should not be contagious after taking the antibiotic for several days. READ MORE

  • Can hearing damage be caused by an infection?

Yes. Any type of viral infection can possibly spread to the auditory nerve (CN VIII) and cause hearing loss. In the acute stage of loss, within 4 weeks of the change, the patient should be treated with a large dose of steroids for about 14 days in order to increase the chances of recovering the nerve function. BUT your child should have a hearing test to confirm this type of hearing loss prior to being treated. Simple fluid within the middle ear space can cause a mild conductive hearing loss. This is NOT treated with steroids and will resolve within a few weeks READ MORE
