Comprehensive orthodontic treatment can be completed for children and adults with different tools including clear aligners (Invisalign and Spark), aesthetic clear ceramic braces, or metal braces. Braces use wires that are inserted into orthodontic brackets. The wires interact with the brackets to move teeth into desired positions. Being advanced in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Emory-Carter is a top provider in orthodontic treatment with clear aligners and creates a custom design to create a healthy smile. As an orthodontist, Dr. Emory-Carter must recognize various characteristics of a malocclusion or dentofacial deformity, define the nature of the problem, including the etiology, and design a treatment strategy based on the specific needs and desires of the patient. She continues to play a role in bridging the relationship between the medical and dental professions by diagnosing underlying etiologies, such as sleep apnea in children and adults.

Dr. Alyssa Emory-Carter's Expert Contributions
Retainer Problem
First, rinse it well. Second, look to see if the retainer looks deformed. If it does not and it only looks cloudy/white, try it in and make sure it feels normal and comfortable. If anything feels out of normalcy, then call your orthodontist for a retainer check and see if a new one needs to be made. The sooner the better because your teeth will begin shifting immediately! How should I clean my Invisalign?
You can clean your Clear Aligners or retainers in the future with a soft bristled toothbrush, warm water, and toothpaste. Or you can soak them for 15 minutes in denture tablet cleaner (such as Efferdent Mint flavor) and rinse well after soaking before putting them back in. READ MORE
