Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Melissa Sieber, who serves patients throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sieber is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with specialty in refractive and cataract surgery. She is a member of the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service at Wills Eye Hospital where she teaches trainees the medical and surgical techniques to treat a variety of ocular conditions.

In addition to Botox and other cosmetic procedures, she performs LASIK and PRK along with minimally invasive or microinvasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). Her specific interests are with advanced intraocular lenses such as those that correct for both near and far vision in addition to those that correct for astigmatism.

Among her other roles, Dr. Sieber is a member of Ophthalmic Associates in Lansdale, Pennsylvania & serves on faculty for Abington Lansdale Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.  

Teaching students, she is a Clinical Educator at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

A physics major at Gettysburg College, it was there that Dr. Sieber became interested in optics and lasers. Specifically, she was fascinated by how these topics related to ophthalmologic treatments and diseases. She graduated magna cum laude with membership in Phi Beta Kappa along with multiple other honor societies. 

As a medical student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, she won multiple research and clinical awards, including the Philip Mackowiak Award from the American College of Physicians. She spent her intern year at Medstar Harbor Hospital and was awarded Intern of the Year. Dr. Sieber then completed her residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital where she spent her last year elected Co-Chief Resident.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Sieber is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
