Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Karen Estrella, who serves patients in Ohio.

A trusted pediatrician, Dr. Estrella specializes in preventive medicine, asthma, and obesity. She tends to children and adolescents within the Department of Primary Care Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Westown Physician Center in Cleveland, Ohio. 

She puts a strong focus on teaching and educating her patients’ parents, and is passionate about discussing developmental issues and actions parents can take to help achieve their child’s important milestones. 

Back in 2007, Dr. Estrella graduated with her medical degree from La Facultad de Medicina de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador. She then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in pediatrics at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York in 2012.

As a testament to her success, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

With a focus on general pediatrics, breastfeeding, and newborn care, Dr. Estrella is also affiliated with Cleveland Clinic – Medical Outpatient Center, Avon Pointe.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

On a more personal note, Dr. Estrella is fluent in both English and Spanish.
