Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Julie E. Magorien, who serves patients throughout the State of California.

An established hospitalist, Dr. Magorien is affiliated with UCLA Health, working with patients at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.

For more than 60 years, UCLA Health has provided the best in health care and the latest in medical technology to the people of Los Angeles and throughout the world. In regards to her educational background, Dr. Magorien received her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. During her medical education, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her internship and residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received a commendation for excellence in medical student teaching. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California.

An authority in her field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The primary focus is caring for hospitalized patients and co-management with other specialties. Hospitalists take an active part in medical care and ensure a safe discharge for the patients they take care of. They are being increasingly involved in administrative roles, given their expertise and collaboration with various teams in the hospital. 

In her free time, Dr. Magorien enjoys teaching medical students at UCLA, spending time with her dogs, and gardening.
