Beginning her professional pursuits at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Cunningham started her career in medicine by earning her medical degree at the Caribbean Medical University. She completed her residency in family medicine at the Mercy Medical Center.

On a professional level, she is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.
