Dr. Eickstaedt is a board-certified dermatologist with Surgical Dermatology Group in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. His areas of clinical expertise cover Mohs surgery, skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, and dermatologic laser treatments. Prior to becoming a dermatologist, Dr. Eickstaedt trained as an internist and worked as a hospitalist for several years. He  also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he developed an affinity for dermatology prompting him to complete a residency in dermatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Eickstaedt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with Honors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He then pursued his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin, graduating in 2008. Furthermore, he completed the internal medicine residency program at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2011. In 2018, he joined the dermatology residency program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, which he completed in 2021. 

Following his training, he attained board certification in internal medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also became board-certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with medical, surgical and cosmetic aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases due to both internal and external causes and is trained to address cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include diagnosis and management of a variety of skin disorders, rashes, birthmarks, skin cancer screening and treatment, skin infections, cutaneous surgery and the use of injectables and lasers for skin rejuvenation.  

Dr. Eickstaedt is licensed to practice in the states of Alabama and Wisconsin. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Minnesota Medical Association, the Zumbro Valley Medical Society, the Wisconsin Medical Society, the Wisconsin Dermatologic Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology Mohs Micrographic Surgery Committee. 

Over the years, Dr. Eickstaedt received numerous awards from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin, including the 2005 Herman Shapiro Summer Research Award, the 2005  Otto & Margaret Ann Mortensen Scholarship, and the 2006 Marvin E. Watts Scholarship. He was also a Clinical Vignette Finalist with the Minnesota Chapter of the American College of Physicians (Minnesota 2010) and was awarded the 2019 Legislative Conference Resident Scholarship Award by the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AADA).
