How do psychologists treat bipolar disorder?
First we have to determine who provided the diagnosis. If a counselor diagnosed you then they should be the individual that is working with you or referring you to a counselor that is best versed and within their scope of practice. If you are self-diagnosing then I again would seek a professional counselor to confirm and address treatment. If you were diagnosed by your primary care provider then I would ask for a referral for a clinical counselor or search for one in your community and ask the individual if they have experience with Bi-polar disorders. Again, it all returns to working with a professional counselor and addressing your individual needs. READ MORE

How do I overcome anxiety without medication?
First is seeking a professional counselor that you like and trust. Second, do not be resistant to medication in treatment. Does therapy help after divorce?
Yes, and the reason why I say that is this, we often have a moment of crisis or new life change (transition) that requires adjustment. In events like these with huge life changes I work with a client for several weeks to several months addressing the adjustment, there are usually several factors in divorce that at the time either one or both parties are eager to get out of the marriage with little thought to the immediate and long term consequences, financial, emotional, and especially if there are children involved the sharing or absence of caring for your child or children. So, I would recommend for individuals that are going through a divorce to seek some professional counseling and especially for the children of divorced parents. READ MORE

As a counselor, I feel that everyone at sometime in their life will need counseling. As a professional counselor myself, I have my own counselor.
