Get to know Internist & Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Steven Trai Shinn, who serves patients in Florida.

Dr. Shinn is a board-certified internist & sports medicine specialist who believes in getting to know his patients in order to provide them with personalized, high-quality care. Working hard to help them reach their healthcare goals, he is in practice with West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine with offices in DeLand and Orange City, Florida.

From pediatrics and family medicine to sports therapy, the  team of experienced, board certified physicians, physician assistants, and caring staff at West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine offer patients the highest quality of care available. Having built a reputation for staying on the cutting edge of technology, the practice is equipped with the latest non-surgical treatment for patients with acute and chronic back problems. Holding a bachelor’s degree from Stetson University, Dr. Shinn is an alumnus of The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Ohio State and his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Clinic. 

Playing an active role in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and sports medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. In addition, he is a team physician for Deltona High School and Stetson University. 

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Sports medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. A sports medicine specialist is a physician with significant specialized training in both the treatment and prevention of illness and injury.

Happily married to his high school sweetheart, Dr. Shinn and his wife have one child.
