Get to know Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Hayley Schapiro, who serves patients in Florida.
Hayley, a licensed clinical social worker, is the Founder of Social Sense Palm Beach, LLC in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her expertise is in individual psychotherapy, case consult, and evaluation.
Building and running the resource room at a Palm Beach private school, this was where Hayley’s idea for Social Sense Palm Beach, LLC was born. She learned that local schools are doing their best to provide comprehensive support to students and families but are restricted by the hours in a school day.
Now, her mission is to be a support system, resource, coach, mentor, problem-solver, and sounding board for children and families.
Social Sense Palm Beach, LLC is now a multi-service therapeutic center for children (toddlers to teens) and families. It supports children evidencing varied learning and developmental differences and mental health concerns with services ranging from initial assessment, evaluation, and diagnosis to intervention and ongoing service.
Home-based, in her office, or school setting, Hayley excels in quickly building rapport with clients through humor, empathy, and unwavering engagement. She acknowledges the many pressures children face but her priority is to smooth transitions, engage parents, and creatively brainstorm.
Her areas of speciality include anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, depression, family conflict, intellectual disability, life transitions, self-esteem, sleep or insomnia, and traumatic brain injury.
After graduating with her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in 2014, Hayley worked as a psychometrician in a clinic overseen by a large hospital network in New York City. There, she provided diagnostic clarity for families and facilitated their transition to community based services. She was trained in administering assessments at New York Presbyterian Hospital: Center for Autism and the Developing Brain.
Prior to that, she worked at a New York City Charter School, where she provided individual mental health support, crisis intervention, and group counseling.
Social work is an academic discipline and profession that concerns itself with individuals, families, groups, and communities in an effort to enhance social functioning and overall well-being. A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) works with patients in order to help them deal with issues involving mental and emotional health. There are a wide variety of specializations the LCSW can focus on, including mental health issues, substance abuse, public health, school social work, medical social work, marriage counseling or children and family therapy.
When not meeting with children, families, or schools, Hayley can be found at the West Palm Beach Green Market tasting local treats with her husband, children, and labradoodle puppy named Brody. She will always be a New Yorker, but loves the sunshine in South Florida.
