  • How long is therapy for panic attacks?

Greetings, The course of treatment for panic attacks depends on several variables. One of those is whether or not the panic attacks are part of another diagnosis (such as PTSD, social anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, etc.). If they occur independent of any other condition, then 6-8 psychotherapy visits with a provider giving interoceptive and in-vivo exposure is about average in my experience (some a bit faster, some a bit longer). If the panic attacks occur as part of another condition, then the duration of treatment to resolve panic will often depend on how long it takes to treat that condition, though some people will experience improvement in their panic attacks before the other condition is fully addressed.
