Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgery Dr. Ana M. Parsee, who serves the population of Reading, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Parsee is board certified in cardiothoracic surgery. She joined Penn State Health from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., where she served as the TAVR surgical director and an assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery.

Penn State Health is a multi-hospital health system serving patients and communities across 29 counties in central Pennsylvania. It employs more than 16,800 people system-wide. Penn State Health shares an integrated strategic plan and operations with Penn State College of Medicine, the University’s medical school.

She is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.

She graduated with honors from the University of Central Florida College of Health and Public Affairs in Orlando, Fla. Dr. Parsee earned her medical degree at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Fla., where she also completed her general surgery residency. She continued her training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore with a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Parsee’s areas of expertise include surgical aortic valve replacement, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), coronary bypass surgery and cardiac arrhythmia treatment.

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in surgical treatment of organs inside the thoracic cavity. A cardiothoracic surgeon is a medical doctor who specializes in surgical procedures of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.
