Annabelle completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Applied Science with a Major in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2014 from the University of Mississippi. There she was a part of the Psi Chi Fraternity, Delta Delta Delta Fraternity, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Wanting to further her education she graduated with a Master of Science in Speech Pathology in 2016 from the University of Texas at Dallas. Annabelle holds additional certification of clinical competency in Speech-Language Pathology and the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile. To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Speech-Language Pathology is a field of expertise practiced by a clinician known as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), also sometimes referred to as a speech and language therapist or a speech therapist. SLP is considered a “related health profession” along with audiology, optometry, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, physical therapy, and others. The field of SLP is distinguished from other “related health professions” SLPs are legally permitted to conclude to certain disorders which fall within their scope of practice. SLPs specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders (speech disorders and language disorders), cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders. SLPs also play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (often in a team with pediatricians and psychologists).
