Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Alejandra M. Salazar, who serves patients in South Miami, Florida.

Dr. Salazar is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She specializes in preventive care, general gynecological evaluations, providing OB care and High risk pregnancies, as well as all aspects of reproductive health, including family planning, infertility, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. 

Fluent in both English and Spanish, the doctor is affiliated with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at South Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida. As a part of Baptist Health South Florida, Baptist Health Medical Group consists of a network of primary care doctors and specialists who provide high quality medical care to patients of all ages. There, Dr. Salazar provides obstetrics and gynecology care to women through all stages of life, from adolescence through the postmenopausal years. 

Recognized for her academic and clinical excellence, she contributes to research in her specialty and has presented her findings at medical symposiums. Moreover, she is board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Salazar came to the US when she was only 14 and did not know english. She earned her medical degree from  the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 2014. She then went on to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2018. 

For more than seven years, she served as a Department of Community Service volunteer, providing primary care, screenings, and women’s health care to populations with limited access to preventive medicine and wellness services. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
