About

I've dedicated most of my life to learning about and caring for the mind. My curiosity drew me to studies at Cornell University, ranging from philosophy of mind to neurobiology of behavior. After studying neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, I decided to attend medical school. Here, I fell in love with psychiatry because each patient had a unique story. I sought my graduate medical education at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC, one of the nation's largest and most renowned university-affiliated psychiatric hospitals.

As a psychiatrist who also provides psychotherapy, I received advanced training at the Columbia University and Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Centers. I'm a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and a member of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis.

My practice is patient-centered and evidence-based. I believe very strongly in the power of the patient-doctor relationship. My clinical philosophy can be best described as an attempt to place a person's symptoms in the context of an understanding of them as an individual, taking into consideration their development, personality, and life narrative.
