Dr. Tallarita is a vascular surgeon with the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit academic medical center focused on integrated clinical practice, education, and research. It employs more than 4,500 physicians and scientists, along with another 58,400 administrative and allied health staff.

Dr. Tallarita completed the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota. It is a challenging training program that encompasses both open and endovascular management of arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases. 

Dr. Tallarita earned his medical degree from the University of Catania in Catania, Italy, where he completed a training in vascular surgery and kidney transplant. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete the residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland and at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix.

Dr. Tallarita is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed at least 5 years of residency training following medical school, met all ABS training requirements, and successfully completed the ABS examination process.

Dr. Tallarita’s love for vascular surgery brought him to specialize in minimally invasive vascular surgery with special focus on aortic, deep (central) venous, and peripheral arterial and venous diseases. He is currently involved in several research projects with focus on aberrant subclavian artery, deep venous diseases, complex aortic aneurysm repair, carotid, and peripheal atheroscleortic and aneurysmatic diseases.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system (arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels) are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Tallarita is trained to evaluate and treat complex diseases of the vascular system, with special emphasis in minimal invasive techniques.
