These requirements certify that his academic and clinical experience meets nationally established standards.

In some areas, such as college teaching and research, a Ph.D. or Clinical Doctorate (SLPD) is required. Charles completed his Masters of Speech-Language Pathology graduate degree in 1991 from Missouri State University. He is currently a doctoral candidate attending Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and earning his clinical doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology (SLPD). Other post-graduate education he has completed includes 60 hours of credit in psychology (Ph.D.), and all the academic requirements for a master's degree in clinical counseling (needs to complete his internship to complete).

Charles is a retired U.S. Army Captain, having served in the military for twenty years. He began his service in 1978 in the Marine Corps and was discharged in 1981 after his tour of duty. Captain Mangone was deployed in support of the global war on terrorism one month after receiving his officer commission in September 2001, while serving in the Army National Guard. He has multiple military occupational specialties, serving is various roles such as Commander, Operations Officer, and Battle Captain.
