  • Is there a treatment for bronchitis in acupuncture?

Hi, Bronchitis is a challenging condition. With oriental medicine, the most important thing is getting the proper diagnosis regarding the client's constitution and nature of their disease. Use pulse assessment, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and ear assessment to get to that point. We need to differentiate between excess and deficient conditions or even conflicting signs to determine the best herbal mix to address this condition. Acupuncture can be supplemental, but herbal medicine is primary. Be well, Charlie Sciutto, Lac. READ MORE

  • Can an acupuncturist help me with my GERD?

Good day, Yes, acupuncture, but more specifically, herbal medicine can be very effective to greatly reduce the symptoms and reason behind GERD. In Chinese terms, normal movement of stomach chi is downward. When the liver is overheated (via emotion and physical stressors), it can overact on the stomach, leading to rebellious stomach chi and the symptoms of GERD. During my school years, I conducted a double blind study on the effectiveness of Chinese herbs to address GERD versus PPI (Protonix, Prilosec, etc.). Participants who had been taking PPI agreed to suspend use of this drug during the study. They were given either a placebo or the Chinese herbs in capsule form. The Chinese herbs provided consistent relief of GERD symptoms. Over the years, I have refined this formula. Both patients and other practitioners purchase this product and get consistently great results. Anyone suffering from GERD and not wanting the long-term side effects from Proton Pump Inhibitors should consider Chinese Herbs. You can contact my office to discuss further (805) 450-2891. Thank you. READ MORE

  • Is acupuncture effective in treating blood related problems like anemia?

Acupuncture is not the primary mode of treatment for anemia with Chinese medicine. The most important action to take is to assess pulse signs, ear, blood pressure, and heart rate. Based on the findings, herbal prescriptions for anemia can be very effective to improve lab results and, more importantly, help with any symptoms of the anemia. Please call our office (805-450-2891) to set up an herbal consultation to diagnosis your specific cause of anemia and set up an appropriate herbal treatment plan. Thank you. READ MORE

  • I have headaches frequently. Can acupuncture treatment help?

Absolutely, acupuncture can provide direct relief for an acute headache. Repeated treatments can ensure that future headaches are less frequent and intense. Herbal medicine can also serve as an adjunct and address the constitution of the patient that is making them susceptible to the headaches. Please contact our office if interested (805-450-2891). • Can acupuncture help in treating joint pain?

There is a high probability that acupuncture will be very effective for joint pain. In my clinic, we identify the joints and muscles affected. We also use pulse, ear, and thermal cues to accurately diagnose the client's constitution and how that may impact their therapy. Then, using imagery and channel relationship, we can quickly identify the best route of therapy. With the insertion of small needles, we can often achieve rapid relief of symptoms while needles are in place. I may add herbal therapy to complement our treatment. Depending on the length of injury and the client's constitution, repeated treatments will be needed to reinforce and sustain the pain relief. I typically treat clients twice a week till they report being 80-90 percent better. At this point, treatments drop down to weekly and then the client graduates from our clinic. Hope this helps give you a sense of how things can work. Best of luck, Charlie READ MORE

  • How long does the effect of acupuncture last?

Acupuncture treatments can help greatly with pain related to PCOS. However, to address Polycystic ovarian syndrome long-term, a pulse, ear, and thermal diagnosis are needed to find the root cause creating the imbalance in the body. Herbal medicine is the best way to permanently address these imbalances. Be well. I would be happy to assist you. READ MORE
