Get to know Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Justine Moe, who serves patients in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Moe is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in the treatment of head and neck cancer and non-cancerous tumors. Her clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive rehabilitation for facial deformities and tumor resection surgeries, including reconstructive surgery, dental implant rehabilitation, and facial cosmetic procedures.

At present, she is in practice with Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry Clinic at Med Inn in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, the Director of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, and the Associate Director of the Head & Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship in the Department of Surgery, Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. 

With more than 8,000 outpatient clinic visits and more than 1,200 operative cases a year, Michigan Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery / Hospital Dentistry serves as a recognized center of excellence and one of the oldest units of its kind in the country. Its strengths reflect the breadth of academic surgery, from diverse residency and fellowship experiences to skilled clinical care to impactful research.

After graduating with her medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine, Dr. Moe went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University School of Dentistry. She completed internships at the University of California, Los Angeles and at Emory University Medical Center. She then went on to perform her residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Emory University Medical Center, followed by her fellowship in head & neck oncologic and microvascular surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Thriving in her field, she is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). The mission of the ABOMS is to assure the public of safe and optimal care through the development and maintenance of high standards of certification and recertification of Diplomates in the specialty.

To advance her professional efforts, Dr. Moe remains a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the International Association of Oral Oncology, the American Head and Neck Society, and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Her research interests include clinical and translational research in head and neck cancer, reconstructive surgery, facial and dental rehabilitation, oral and maxillofacial surgery, virtual surgery, 3D printing, and resident education.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in surgery of the face, mouth, and jaws. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dental specialists who treat conditions, defects, injuries, and esthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. Their training involves a four-year graduate degree in dentistry and the completion of a minimum four-year hospital surgical residency program.
