A native of Long Island, Dr. Sonpal is a thriving gastroenterologist with a focus on men’s and women’s health. His expertise in clinical knowledge, medical education, curriculum construction, and student education makes him a highly respected member of the medical community.
Among his various roles, he serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine within the Department of Basic Biomedical Sciences at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, a Clinical Instructor at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, as well as the Clerkship Director for New York Medical College, St. George’s University School of Medicine, and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also the Chief Strategy Officer for Medquest Test Prep, the Director of Medical Education for Picmonic Test Prep, and a recognized expert on medical test prep.
The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Silesia – Hope Medical Institute in Poland. After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in gastroenterology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
Shortly thereafter, he became board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Attributing his success to having support from his family and great mentors, Dr. Sonpal remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Physicians (Fellow), and the New York Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
