Get to know Transplant Physician Assistant, Nina Partin Godsey, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

A Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (DFAAPA), Nina is a Transplant Physician Assistant at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Having accumulated over 20 years of experience, she possesses a vast and comprehensive background in gastroenterology and hepatology. Her work has been primarily centered in the hospital setting, including renowned institutions such as Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, Methodist Hospital Houston, CHI St. Luke Epicopal Hospital, Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics, as well as Good Shepherd Medical Center. She has also gained valuable experience in various other medical fields, such as orthopedics, reconstructive urology, primary care, and organ transplantation.

Throughout her academic career, Nina attended Stephen F. Austin State University and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training/Trainer and Secondary Education. This course of study lasted from 1975 until 1979.

Following that, she returned to Stephen F. Austin State University for further education and completed a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education, spanning from 1979 to 1980.

After some time, between 1996 and 1998, Nina attended The University of Texas Medical Branch and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she had a 20+ year career as a certified athletic trainer.

A Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) is a health care practitioner who practices medicine in collaboration with physicians. They examine patients, prescribe medicine, and order diagnostic tests. In most cases, they work under the supervision of physicians or surgeons, but they can work more independently in some states, rural areas, and inner-city areas, consulting with physicians only when they need help with cases.
