A 2010 graduate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Abbott went on to perform his internship and residency in surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He then completed an additional residency in diagnostic radiology at Pennsylvania Hospital in 2017, followed by a fellowship in breast imaging at New York University Medical Center in 2018.
Using imaging technology to aid in cancer diagnosis, staging, and guidance of treatment, the doctor is board certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Abbott is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the Society of Breast Imaging.
Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology. It focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. A surgical oncologist removes the tumor and nearby tissue during surgery. He or she also performs certain types of biopsies to help diagnose cancer.
