Dr. Shangold treats all aspects of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery, with special interests in pediatric and adult sleep medicine and allergy, and is a board certified sleep medicine physician. 

Currently, he is in practice with ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP in Port Jefferson Station, New York. Additionally, he serves as the Medical Director of Night and Day Sleep’s Lab in Staten Island, and shares his expertise as a course instructor at the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery annual meeting, particularly on the subject of sleep medicine.

Graduating from SUNY – Upstate Medical School in 1986, Dr. Shangold completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

In 1992, he achieved board certification in otolaryngology through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). The ABOHNS is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.

Notably, Dr. Shangold is one of only around 200 otolaryngologists in the country who hold board certification in sleep medicine through the American Board of Medical Specialties. 

Furthermore, he is an active member of the New York State Society of Sleep Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. 

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Pediatric otolaryngologists are primarily concerned with medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases in children.
