A board-certified psychiatrist specializing in geriatric psychiatry, Dr. Asikaiwe welcomes patients at Greathope Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services in Garland, Texas. At the initial visit, his clients are greeted with a warm welcome, thus initiating the process for the patient and provider to establish rapport and understanding gradually. He works with a team of highly trained therapists, Nurse Practitioner,  counselors, and psychologists to provide comprehensive care.

With over 15 years of experience caring for patients with psychiatric and psychological disorders, he helps patients manage depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar, mood, sleep, and other psychiatric conditions. He also treats children with psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorder  with behavioral problems. 

A native of Nigeria, Dr. Asikaiwe earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1994. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in psychiatry at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 2015, followed by a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, New York in 2016.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

In his practice, his goal is to keep patients healthy, stable, functional, and productive. He works closely with the patient’s family to provide support and education to understand the illness, and participate in the care and support for their loved one. When his patients are healthy and stable, patients and their families are happy.
