Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Arlene Z. Roman, who serves the Michigan area at her private practice. Specialty: Psychosomatic, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Trauma, Mood and Anxiety Disorders Medical School: College of Human Medicine Michigan State University Hospital Affiliation: Sparrow Hospital Education: Dr. Roman graduated from the College of Human Medicine Michigan State University with her Medical Degree in 1987. Experience: After graduating with her medical degree she completed her psychiatric residency with the Michigan State University. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Current Position: Dr. Roman currently practices within her private practice, as well as being a part of Psychiatric Associates with Michigan. She is also affiliated with Sparrow Hospital. Psychology: This is the science of behavior and mind, including conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope and diverse interests that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest. As a social science it aims to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases. Personal: Dr. Roman attributes her professional success to her work ethic, colleagues and friends for helping her stay focused. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with with her family, hiking and traveling.
