In regards to his education, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1962, giving him over five decades of experience in the medical field. After earning his medical degree, he completed his internship with the University of Alabama Medical Center followed by a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the same institute. Furthering his training, he completed his Psychiatry residency from Camarillo State Hospital. He is licensed to practice in the state of Texas.
