Decorated Military Veteran and Skilled Gastroenterologist Joins Methodist Physicians Hill Country Medical Group

Dr. Christopher A. Fincke is a gastroenterology specialist with Methodist Physicians Hill Country Medical Group in Fredericksburg, Texas. He joined the practice after a decorated military career and over a decade of private practice.

At Methodist Physicians Hill Country Medical Group, Dr. Fincke prioritizes patient-focused care, ensuring that every individual feels confident in their procedures and treatment plans. His areas of expertise encompass general gastroenterology and hepatology, as well as specialized procedures such as therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP, and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). Additionally, he is well-versed in celiac plexus block, endoluminal stenting, complex biliary and pancreatic endoscopy, and HALO™ radiofrequency ablation of Barrett’s Esophagus.

A 1996 graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Fincke completed his residency in internal medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He then pursued a fellowship in gastroenterology at Brooke Army Medical Center and later served as a faculty gastroenterologist for the San Antonio Uniformed Health Services Gastroenterology Fellowship program, contributing to the education and training of numerous GI physicians.

After 11 years of dedicated service in the United States Army, Dr. Fincke transitioned to private practice in San Antonio in 2007 before joining the Methodist Physicians Hill Country Medical Group. He is affiliated with Methodist Hospital Hill Country, HCM Medical Clinic – Fredericksburg, and Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, further solidifying his commitment to providing exceptional care in the community.

Deeply passionate about diagnosing and treating diseases of the digestive system, Dr. Fincke is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Fincke actively participates in charitable endeavors in the San Antonio community and finds joy in attending and coaching his childre’’s sporting events.
