Originally from Peru, Dr. Alvarez graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 1985 and as a prosthodontist at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Peru in 1999. He obtained a TMD Fellowship in 2004 and graduated as a prosthodontist at the Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester in New York in 2010.

For a period of 18 years, he worked in the Peruvian Air Force as a dentist and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is a current member of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Academy of Osseointegration.

Prosthodontics, also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry, is the area of dentistry that focuses on dental prostheses. Prosthodontists deal with both the appearance and the function of your teeth and gums. Specifically, they work with fixing issues that have to do with tooth loss or jaw problems. Along with fixing dental problems to ensure a functional bite, they also work to ensure that the teeth look natural and attractive.

In his personal life, Dr. Alvarez is married with two children. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
